It is always a different season at Coastal Kitchen, located at 429 15th Avenue East on Capitol Hill. Every few months they travel the world with food, featuring a touring menu while making sure they source local. That, along with a very Seattle seafood menu, a killer brunch, and great happy hour deals, this place is not one to miss.

Brunch, or “Blunch” as they call it, is 8am to 3pm daily – my favorite at Coastal Kitchen. Their Touring Menu keeps their menu fresh with breakfast foods from different world locals. One of the best hashes I’ve ever had was on their touring brunch menu. My go-to is The Farmer scramble with apple-wood smoked bacon, crispy potatoes, onions, green pepper, and yellow cheddar served with a side of spicy hashbrowns and toast. Their hashbrowns, well known by Seattle locals, are said to be the best in town. (Something I wholeheartedly agree with.) They have this special spice to them and are always cooked to perfection making you want more when you’ve finished. Pair that with fresh squeezed orange juice mimosas or a drink off their “Don’t Judge Me Happy Hour” and you’ve started your day off right.

Speaking of Happy Hour, this place gets very happy most of the day. The above Don’t Judge Me Happy Hour goes from 8am to 10am Monday-Friday and 8am-9am on weekends includes deals on mimosas, Irish coffee, and $6 breakfast cocktails. Two other Happy Hours, one from 3pm to 6pm and 9pm to close every day include fries with eyes, $1.50 fresh shucked oysters on the half shell, other food items, along with deals on draft beers and cocktails.

Lunch, 11am to 3pm daily, includes their brunch menu, while adding more lunch-like items like clam chowder, a variety of salads including a Dungeness Crab Cob, sandwiches, and fish & chips. Coastal Kitchen also offers an L.G.B.T. Sandwich (Lettuce, Garlic Mayo, Applewood Smoked Bacon, and Tomato with Swiss cheese on eight grain bread served with fries and pride) giving $1 from each purchased sandwich to LGBTQ Allyship.

Dinner starts at 5pm. This is where Coastal Kitchen pulls out all the stops. Their Touring Dinner Menu includes fresh menu items every few months from the locale they are featuring at that time. Staples such as Wild Alaskan Halibut, Green Curry Mussels and Clams, and their Herb Roasted Chicken provide variety so everyone leaves full and happy after a meal. I’m not sure if their commitment to sustainable seafood, along with their local meets, dairy, and produce make their food taste better, but it sure seems like it.

Tuesday and Wednesday from 3pm to 10pm are Oyster Nights with oysters on the half shell being only $1!

Coastal Kitchen is also filled with quirkiness and fun. From their Potty Humor in the bathrooms where you can experience “language courses”, to the Don’t Judge Me Happy Hour, fun menu descriptions, and a great staff, the Coastal Kitchen experience will keep you coming back. (Even to the bathroom, without even needing to use the bathroom!)

You can find Costal Kitchen on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Yelp, Trip Advisor, and at their website: www.costalkitchenseattle.com – Their phone number is (206) 322-1145 – Walk-ins are always welcome, though you may always make a reservation by calling or at a link on their website.
