Setting a new Standard

I love Standard Goods. From the moment I walked in the door and heard 80’s New Wave music playing in the background I knew this place was for me. Owner Jeffrey Gardner (an extremely nice gentleman by the way) decided that after 15 years working in the corporate fashion world at Nordstroms and after years of purchasing shoes for major companies that it was finally time he branched out on his own.

He wanted to create his own version of a retail clothing store focusing on casual and affordable American made men’s and women’s clothing, shoes, jewelry and accessories with an emphasis on sustainable, conscience and local brands. Brands like: Pendleton (made famous from “The Big Lebowski) Quay, Dr. Martens, Capitol Hill Candle Company, Jeffrey Campbell, Will leather Goods and much, much more.

IMG_0112Jeffrey also feels very passionate about supporting the local art scene and the community in general. He made sure that the store participated in the monthly Capitol Hill Art Walk and even supports his artist employee’s by selling their work in the shop. Standard goods is located on the corner of E. Pike and Boylston and is definitely worth a visit.
